The General Foundation for Social Solidarity, formerly known as "The Higher Committee for Winter Aid," was established by ministerial decree in 1957. It was later renamed as the General Association for Social Solidarity according to ministerial decree No. 178 on 30/9/1995. It was officially registered under the name "The General Foundation for Social Solidarity" at the Cairo Directorate of Social Affairs under registration No. 5508 on 14/3/2004. It was further registered with the Ministry of Social Solidarity under No. 553 on 17/5/2007 under the Central Administration for Unions and Foundations at the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The foundation operates under the provisions of Law No. 149 of 2019, which regulates the work of associations and other institutions operating in the field of civil work.
